When Jade Ferguson’s affair with a married man abruptly ends, she’s devastated.
There is no quick fix for a broken heart. A fresh start is required. New job. New home. New neighbours. The residents of Gresham Terrace seem pleasant enough. Except for one… An absolutely gripping debut psychological thriller.

My Review 🕵️🕵️🕵️🕵️

Why did some people have this ridiculous desire to get involved with neighbours?

This is the question Jade asks herself when she moves into her new townhouse on Gresham Terrace. Jade is looking for an escape but finds herself on one of the nosiest little streets. We all have those nosey neighbours and sometimes you wonder if their intentions are purely good making The Watchful Neighbour instantly relatable.

The Watchful Neighbour is part desperate housewives and part Psycho and I must say, I quite enjoyed reading this delicious little suspense novel. The characters are very interesting and I was immediately enthralled with the drama unfolding on Gresham Terrace.

As the story goes, slowly we see just how Jade got to where is she now with her new job, new home and essentially a new life. The cringe worthy meltdown she relives while trying to move on provide the reader with insight into Jade and creates sympathy for our main character, it’s completely reasonable that she would become a bit unhinged after the year she’s had.

When strange things start happening in Jades townhome where she lives, alone Jade becomes completely obsessed; she immediately thinks she knows whos causing this trouble and sets off to prove it to those around her and seek justice for their actions against her and her sweet little cat, Puddles. The neighbours are skeptical about Jades accusations and even start to think maybe she’s a bit of a nutcase however, the reader gets a little glimpse into someone who is in fact watching Jade.

Is this the person she’s pointing the finger at? I wasn’t so sure it would be him and definitely spent some time thinking about paths of who could have it out for Jade and why. Of course nothing is confirmed until the end of the book but along the way there were some moments that gave me chills while I tried to untwist this mystery. I really loved the writing, which I found was sophisticated and charming and I look forward to reading more of this genre from Debbie Viggiano.
