My Review
The story opens with a mysterious invite to a dinner party at a hotel that seems to have its own share of secret, just like some of the guests that are invited. Riley, our main character immediately knows this isn’t the dinner party for her but she was brought here to serve for the evening with the promise of a lot of cash she desperately needs. Quickly we are introduced to a wide variety of dinner guests who all have a different motivation for being there. Riley tries to smile and play nice but as the night goes on things definitely take a turn for the weird, perhaps the supernatural. As a fan of ghost stories I did find this one fun and interesting but the language was a little boisterous, I’m not sure so many f-bombs were needed to get the story told. However, it started off with a bang and I was immediately interested and having seen the beginning of this storyline before I was pleasantly surprised with where the story ended. The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel will take you on a bit of ride and surprise you around almost every corner.
Guest post from the Author, K.T Rose
Jenn: When given the chance to ask K.T a question I knew I had to reach out and see what the author’s thoughts were on the paranormal and ask if she’s ever had an encounter herself?
K.T: Although The Haunting of Gallagher Hotel is a paranormal horror novel, I’ve never seen a real a ghost before. But I have had a few encounters that may or may not convince anyone that the other side is real and it crosses over into our realty often.
After a long night of drinking and partying, I found myself out of sorts, which caused me and my ex-boyfriend to crash in my friend’s living room. I took the chocolate suede couch, and Deron took the matching recliner. I need noise when I sleep, so I put on the English movie Chat Room and dozed off.
Because I have severe sleep apnea, I never sleep through the night. Sometimes, when I wake up, I suffer from sleep paralysis. The sleep paralysis is especially bad if my body is in a hurry to wake me up because I’m not breathing.
I shot my eyes open to find a man standing over the back of the couch smiling down at me. I froze, trying to push air down my throat and through my chest, but it was impossible with the unfamiliar person standing over me. I’ve never seen the man’s ebony face before, nor did I recognize his pearly white smile or big eyes as they glistened in the blue light from the TV.
He leaned in closer as I struggled to get my limbs to move, but they laid still like dead weight, forcing me to frightfully gawk in disbelief at the person standing over the me.
“Hi! I’m happy you have fun in my old apartment,” he said with a light, exuberant tone. “I used to have fun here all the time.”
I managed to suck down a small breath, but not enough to get off my ass. I let out a stifled mumble. “Deron. Deron!” I called out to my ex a few more times, but he did budge, nor did he readjust himself in the recliner. He rested as sound as he had when I watched him fall asleep.
“Don’t be scared,” the man said, his big smile somehow widening.
I finally lifted my arm and shouted, “Deron!” I shot up to my feet and looked around. The man was gone. There was nothing but the blue screen illuminating the living room.
“What?” Deron said groggily, hating when people pulled him from his sleep.
I sat down and put a hand on my forehead, begging my heart to slow down.
I told Deron what I’d experienced, but he called it a dream. I argued that it couldn’t’ve been a dream because I watched Deron in real-time as he sat in that chair, sleeping restfully. Also, when I fell asleep, the movie was still going. But by the time the man came to watch me sleep, the screen was ocean blue, which meant the movie had long ended, and the DVD player was on its way to automatic shutdown.
I never forgot the man that stood over the couch and I rarely stayed over there again. Sometimes, I wished I talked back to him. It would’ve been interesting to know who he was or if he died in that apartment. Was he a ghost or a figment of my imagination?

Sounds like a good mystery. I love the whole “Clue” vibe it has, with the dinner party. And interesting question you asked the author!!
