My Review:
A satirical zombie novel battling fatphobia and promoting body positivity? Sign me up! But seriously, I knew right away that Eat Your Heart Out was a book that I needed in my life.
Eat Your Heart Out is a satirical zombie horror novel, and yes, I really did just say that. This book is fierce and sassy in the best of ways, and it is totally unafraid to speak its mind. There’s a vast cast of characters – all of whom seem to fall into classical horror movie archetypes. We have Action Girl, The Basket Case, The Courageous Captain, The Jock, The Jerk, The Nerd, and The Outcast. And yes, those terms really do come up. Did I love that? Also yes.
This novel was very tongue-in-cheek while also being shockingly honest and blunt at times. There’s never any real question about the story being told here or what the goal is. Combine that honesty with an excellent send of humor, and it makes for a fun and thrilling read.
