Book Description:

In this heartwarming story, Bob the banana goes on an emotional journey as he worries about going bad before he can be of any use to Mr. Abbot. With the help of his friends, he learns to hold on to the hope that he will get picked by Mr. Abbott before it is too late. Through their combined support and perseverance of his refrigerated friends, Bob may be just the right item for Mr. Abbot someday.

My Review: Bob the Banana Goes Bas was a little off-putting at first, the thought of food being aware of being eaten put a little damper on my day. However when I sat down with my daughter and actually read it? I found it to be adorable and kind of eclectic. Bob has a purpose just like you or I and everyone reaches their potential and purpose some day. I loved the illustration and interactive design of this book. My daughter laughed and squealed and all around enjoyed it as well. I do believe this book should be in little libraries everywhere for kids to enjoy and learn from.

Time takes time

By Steve Petzinger

This past year has gone by very fast.  So much has happened, and our daily lives have shifted as our routines get readjusted by the pandemic.  Somehow, in the midst of it all, I managed to publish a children’s book.  Some people may call it a “bucket-list” item, but I called it an opportunity too good to pass up.

Though I started the journey with a lot of unknowns, publishing was actually quiteeasy once I figured out what to do and how to do it.  I had a vision and an idea, butgetting published took time and work.  After finding the publishing company that met all my needs as a writer, the rest was a seamless process.  There was a lot of collaboration and communication; timelines and deadlines throughout. The publishing company did a lot to guide the process, and I had to do my part as well.  They edited, gave suggestions and feedback, helped with the narrative andillustrations, but the final decisions were mine.  I had a clear vision of what I wanted the book to be and it was my responsibility to convey that vision effectively.  At the end of the day, it was my book and my dream.

While the whole process only took about 6 months to go to print, there were many long days and nights.  But I plugged away even with all my other life responsibilities and made time.  I did it not just for me and for the purpose of accomplishing a goal, but also because I wanted to share the book with others.  It started out as just a school project when I was 12, but at the age of 44 it had become more than that for me.  It was a dream that I wanted to fulfill.  Being a published author was something I deep down thought wasn’t possible.  I thought it would be too hard.  But I found out it wasn’t after all.  It just took time.
