About the Book:

Pulse is a multi-POV dystopian sci-fi horror thriller set in 2040, centered around a corporation, a creature, and a music festival. Think Fyre Festival, Black Mirror, and X-Files combined. The story deals with themes of capitalism, consumerism, business, politics, pandemics, climate change, activism, and technology while bouncing between a diverse group of characters sure to entertain almost anyone. The book is already being praised for its fantastic use of horror, engaging world-building, and genre-bending approach utilizing some screenplay-like formatting. This is the first entry in a new series with the sequel well underway.

My Review:

I love the Relic series by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child and Pulse reminded me of that series, specifically Book 1, in many ways. Greed, corruption, selfishness – all major plot lines of this dystopian thriller.

There are several character storylines that end up contributing to or merging into the overall plot. So while we are introduced to many characters, each storyline is unique enough to easily remember them and tell them apart.

Tons of action in this one and a writing style that is quick paced and has just the right amount of detail to bring you into the story without dredging you in details. The perfect balance for an action/suspense/thriller!

For readers who like their sci-fi/dystopian reads with a little bit of horror, Pulse serves that dish extra-gooey! Ha!

This thrill ride didn’t have one page of boring!

About the Author:
B.A. Bellec is an award-winning author. His debut novel was a coming of age story and it went on to win multiple honors including the Reader Views Reviewer’s Choice Young Adult Book of the Year.

We like to have a little fun around here, below you find an outline for our rating system, everything is out of 5. Also you”ll often see we replace the star emoji for something that reflects the read.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐= Knocked my socks off. Will not stop talking about it. Have lost friends because I won’t shut up about it. Will take it personally if you do not stop what you’re doing and start reading it. Would actually read it again. A hot guy who is smart AND so pretty. A perfect cloudless 75 degree day.

⭐⭐⭐⭐= Knocked only one sock off. Will more than likely follow/read everything by the author and will keep a copy on my bookshelf. Chai tea on a cool crisp autumn afternoon.

⭐⭐⭐= Neutral; did not lose any socks over this book and will be wishing I got it at the library instead of purchasing. An average piece of work. If it were an ice cream flavor, it would be vanilla.

⭐⭐= Wouldn’t recommend to someone I like. Overall meh feeling on this one.

⭐ = Waste of time, VERY close to not finishing it but my parents didn’t raise a quitter. Will mourn the loss of time that could’ve been spent reading something else. Kissing someone with bad breath.
