About the Book:
Can something that happens when you are twelve years old affect the rest of your life? Yes, if its fingers reach and spread, insinuating themselves into every dark recess and wide-open space that constitute who and what you are. And if those same fingers stay to bear witness to the results and repercussions of their power.
Riley Cartwright is sane. Or at least she thinks she is. Itβs like the chicken and the egg, and sheβs never sure which came firstβher acknowledgment of her gift or the gift itself. But one thing she does know: when it started. Right after the car accident that would change the entire trajectory of her life and would leave her always questioning: What is intuition? Where does it come from? Why me? What does it mean?
Adam Linder is hiding. From his past and from the girl who makes him think about his past like an imprint of a deep purple scar that he wishes were a pretty, innocuous pink flower left to blossom without hindrance or distraction. But it isnβt. Itβs a mark of guilt that stains and lingers. How will he find relief, release, redemption?
Bibliointuitive is the story of how a shared past shaped the future for two lonely survivors. It is also the story of a girl who became a woman when she learned that her gift was a blessing, not a curse.
My Review:
I think this book could be classified as Magical Realism Fiction.Β A regular world book that has some touch of magic.Β For the longest time, I kept thinking that Riley was crazy for being upset about this magic that seemed to come out of nowhere.Β Reading a book and then having something appear to her in real life that was directly connected to the book –Β I would have been so happy if that had happened to me as a teenager.Β Well, maybe I’d be a bit spooked at first but then I’d think it was really cool!
I loved Riley’s character and with the events that take place in the first 10% of the story, my heart was sobbing for her! Oh my goodness – all the feels!
As the story continues on and we learn about Adam, I was really frustrated.Β This poor boy growing up with basically no parents to help guide him or take care of him.Β Ugh, I just wanted to reach in and give him a hug and tell him that I’d be his mom if needs one.
I love the way that Barker builds her characters and makes the reader so empathetic to the challenges that the characters go through.Β If you are a fan of books with easily relatable characters, then you definitely want to pick up any of Amy Q. Barker’s books.
Thank you to the author for this complimentary book.Β I’ve loved spending time in the worlds you have created for your readers and I appreciate you sharing them with me.
