Today I am going to look back at the year and pick my top 5 favorite book covers of 2020. Obviously, this is subjective and just a list of MY favorite covers. I have not seen all covers of course! There were many more beautiful covers I wanted to include but I didn’t want to get redundant so I narrowed it down to just 5 covers. This was not easy. Also, I just wanted to mention that I am basing this off cover art alone, not the book/writing. Honestly, most of these books I haven’t even read yet, but they are on my ever-growing TBR. Please comment with any book covers you would include on your top book covers of 2020, I’d love to see them!
1. Legendborn by Tracey Deon
This is my favorite cover of 2020. The pose is everything. I love the look of the magical energy swirling around her arms, like she is conjuring magic. Then the look on her face is so strong, eyes straight ahead staring the reader down. I also love the lettering. The whole thing is just stunning!
2. We Were Restless things by Cole Nagamatsu
Cover art by Sasha Vinogradova.
I love the way the flowers look like they are growing out of her skin with the watery background. I love the orange/pink color of the flowers against the dark eerie-looking water It’s a really intriguing cover, it makes me want to know what the book is about.
3.Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust
Book design by anna Gorovoy
The cover is so simple and beautiful. The way the snake kind of blends into the light color background is amazing. I love the weaving of flowers, greenery, and snakes. The way the title is kind of woven in too is perfect! I feel like this cover would really stand out again other books because of the color.
4. Ties That Tether by Jane Igharo
Cover art by Fatima Baig, Cover design by Emily Osbourne
I love the complimentary colors and design on the background. Then the girl on the cover just looks like such a cool person. I love that if you look closer you see the reflection in the sunglasses. This book just gives me cool-girl vibes.
5. A Long Petal of the Sea by Isabel Allende
Book design by Barbara M. Bachman
The cover is really simple but really beautiful. I’m obsessed with the colors, the blue and gold look amazing together. I love the bold letter on the title and how the color is very complimentary of the background colors.
Let me know your feeling on these covers below.
Happy New Year Everyone!
