🚨🚨 Special Alert 1000th NetGalley Review 🚨🚨

When I requested this book from NetGalley, I had no idea how much I was going to love it. The book takes place in 1969 in a small town called Spark, Tennessee. It is about Rennie Hendricks and her grief after losing her baby boy. To add to that grief, she is married to a very abusive man. Because of mounting debt, she takes a job at a diner, which gives her purpose, and she starts to feel good about herself again. She has an uncle who owns some hives that she likes to help out with, and this is where the magic begins. The bees seem to glow and guide her. She starts to think this magic is real, as her aunt was the previous caretaker of the hives and was once thought to be a witch. As Rennie spends time healing and forming friendships, she starts to come into her own again.

This was the perfect end-of-summer read for me. It is everything I want in a book. It’s unforgettable and filled with warmth. I loved the humour and was sucked into the story right from the start. I loved the quirky characters and the touch of magic. It’s filled with strength and heart. I was charmed by Rennie and her aunt. The descriptive writing was just perfect without being too wordy.

Overall, Bees in June was the perfect read about love, loss, and starting over. We can sometimes surprise ourselves with our inner strength when we think we have none. This book left me feeling hopeful, and the characters felt like friends. I was privileged to bee 🐝 on this journey with them. I highly recommend this book, wholeheartedly. All. The. Stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
