Tamar Tremaine author of Salty Flames

I just got my hands on Salty Flames and I’m so excited to see where her adventures in dating takes her. I also think its awesome she did all of the illustrations herself, can’t wait to dive in! Below is some more information on Tamar and her new book.

Tamar Tremaine is an architect with a side job as a professional online dater. She’s been on hundreds of first dates, and chatted online with thousands of men. On a few occasions, she’s been on as many as three dates in one day. She went to a few great universities, and won a few awards. In elementary school, she was selected out of hundreds of students for the “Optimist” award. This is her first book. She doesn’t consider herself an author, but rather a normal person with a lot of great stories to tell. Tamar hopes to inspire you to put yourself out there, download that app, go on that date, and call that guy back. After all, what’s the worst that could happen?

Q: Why did you write Salty Flames?

Over the years, I have made a lot of my friends feel better about their lives by telling them my dating stories. Guys at work used to plan lunches with me to talk about their dating lives, because they didn’t feel comfortable talking about it with anyone else.

Q: How did you come up with the title?

I was sitting at the kitchen table with my roommate, and I asked him what I should call my book. He immediately said, “Salty Flames!” He’s from the UK, where it’s a bit more common to call a lover a “flame”. The title stuck with me after our conversation, and it was important to me to have a memorable title, so I decided to run with it.

Afraid to download a dating app? Nervous to go on a first date? Curious what online dating is like? Upset that you’re never “the one?” Too many duds and not enough studs? You are far from alone…

TAMAR TREMAINE has gone on hundreds of first dates and chatted online with thousands of men over the last ten years. On a few occasions, she has even gone on as many as three dates in one day. (Not recommended.) According to Malcolm Gladwell, author of Outliers, it takes 10,000 hours and approximately ten years to become an expert. Tamar has easily spent 10,000 hours swiping, going on dates, and staring at her phone waiting for that cute guy to text her back. This book, however, is not “Tamar Tremaine: Expert in Online Dating.” This book is for you. Through a series of highly relatable short stories, Tamar reveals her crazy dating history. From in-person dating to online dating, to quarantine dating, Tamar inspires readers to keep trying, download that app, and go on that date. After all, there’s usually a good story in the end!
