An invitation to a quiet retreat for writers? Sounds perfect! And it’s exactly what five authors needed. A week full of time to write, relax, and rest, with free food and a hot tub. What more could these author’s ask for? But then strange things start to occur. Items go missing, things are broken, and there are strange noises. It’s not long before these authors are suspicious of each other; after all, they don’t really know each other so can they trust each other? It’s not before long it seems that what would once be written as a novel has now become their lives where someone is planning their murders.

This is a delicious, suspenseful, page turning read. It was so hard to put down because I just wanted to know what was going to happen and who was behind it all! Obviously, something is happening at Black Hill Manor, but I never guessed how it was happening, the why, or who was behind it – that was a total shock. However, there was even more shocking twists after that reveal! Modglin loves to keep the twists coming, and this book did not disappoint. 4 fantastic stars for another great novel by Modglin!
