“You never know when it’s all going to go wrong.”
Theodora Scott met Connor Dalton and fell hopelessly in love. It was a whirlwind romance and they got engaged quickly. He’s handsome, a little dorky, and wealthy. He invites her to his family’s mountain – it has a main house and cabins. His family is skeptical, and she’s been getting messages to stay away from Connor. Then there’s the foot prints outside the window of the cabin and a picture of Theo from when she was a child. She’s never had recollection of her earlier years, but now she’s getting pieces of her memories – and she remembers being here before. There are secrets being kept here and Theo is in danger.
I picked this book up because I had seen so many people love it on bookstagram. I did not read the synopsis at all, so I went into the book blind. I’ll be honest, I would have still read it even if I had read the synopsis – it looks good! Unfortunately for me, this did not meet up to the hype. I’m sorry!!!
A lot of the book just dragged on, it was really slow. There was one giant coincidence that kind of made me roll my eyes (I can’t say more than that because I don’t want to give anything away), the author then tried too hard with the twists – it’s this person, no it was that person, no it was that person, aha, I got it, it was this person! It just got to be too much after a while. I love thrillers with great twists, but this twist – the changing of the villain – was too much.
The ending of the book was eh, by that time, I just wanted the book to end and I just didn’t care. I will say, I did like Theo as a character and I did like seeing her strength. Alas, I am an outlier, so take my review with a grain of salt!
