I read this book because it was recommended by a fellow book lover.
Annie Byers lives with her husband and little girl in a yellow house in the country. One day she takes the little girl to the pediatrician and gets into a car accident en route. We she wakes up in the hospital she finds out her life, as she knew it, does not exist. She has never had a little girl, she does not live in the yellow house anymore and she is separated from her husband.
So, what is the reader dealing with? Is it a time travel story? Did Annie wake up in a parallel universe? Is it a huge plot against her? Did she have a brain injury? Is it memory issues because of mental illness?
We follow Annie as she tries to sort out her life and her memories. It is a very interesting journey, one that gives the brain a good work out. Because I am a person who like concrete thoughts and definite edges, I had to suspend my beliefs as I was reading this book.
The ending blew me away. It was not what I expected but it made me very happy. This book gave me a lot to think about.
