I’ll admit that my decision to read 48 Clues into the Disappearance was a bit impulsive. I saw it on the Aardvark choices for the month (March), and the title was so different, so I figured, why not!

I found getting invested in the book challenging because of Gigi’s perspective. Despite her emotional connection to the investigation, she seemed detached from the world. The story heavily relies on the reader’s connection to Gigi, making it a character-driven narrative that will either succeed or fail depending on the reader’s impression of her.

The writing style is unique, with a stream-of-consciousness-like approach that offers glimpses of the truth. However, due to Gigi’s unreliability, even these hints felt untrustworthy.
