A fantastic exploration into marriage, divorce and the human experience. This novel bends literary in nature, following the character development of our two main characters, Tomas and Naomi as they work to overcome the effects Tomas’ momentary infidelity has on their marriage, or what is remaining of it.
Botello takes the reader on a journey through the eyes of these characters and the personal growth they experience. Will they work to rebuild their marriage or throw in the towel? With the laws in their state, they have 180 days to decide, and the clock ticks as Tomas works to win back his wife.
Overall, I found this to be a fantastic novel. I appreciated how immersive it was. I generally tend to prefer first person POV novels for this reason, but Botello has done such a fantastic job immersing the reader into the thoughts and memories of the characters and building a connection not only to the main characters, but also the side characters. Everything was extremely well done.
I enjoyed the references to architecture and punk rock throughout. It added a unique depth to the narrative and made the characters more believable and realistic.
This book is a work of art that character-driven fiction lovers will enjoy.
